On Friday 13th of October we completed a maths challenge to divide the potatoes which we harvested from our polytunnel into various size fractions according to their weight. 5th and 6th divided their potatoes into halves, quarters, thirds and fifths. 3rd class divided their potatoes into halves and quarters. They weighed their potatoes initially and calculated the size each portion needed to be. They then used various ways to measure and mark their potatoes before cutting them into the required fractions. Well done to Maria, Alanna and Ciara who got closest to the required fractions. We enjoyed the challenge and also eating the potato wedges afterwards.
